Hong Kong is about to pull off its most spectacular waterfront show yet. This fall, Victoria Harbour will transform into a living art gallery as massive floating inflatables... from Doraemon and Labubu to Elmo and Grimace, drifting across the skyline.

Giant Doraemon, Labubu, Elmo & More Float into Hong Kong

Organised by creative powerhouse AllRightsReserved (ARR), the 2025 Hong Kong Water Parade is being billed as the world’s first and largest floating celebration of pop culture. And judging by what’s planned, they might just be right.

What Exactly is the Hong Kong Victoria Harbour Water Parade?

The Water Parade is a groundbreaking cultural event in Victoria Harbour, combining large-scale public art with childhood nostalgia and festival vibes.

It’s designed to be a two-part extravaganza:

Water Parade Day – November 1, 2025

Expect a fleet of giant floating sculptures, each showcasing a beloved pop culture character. These aren’t just large... some will stretch over 20 metres long!

Line-up highlights include:

  • Doraemon: Japan’s time-travelling robot cat.
  • Labubu: the whimsical creation of Hong Kong artist Lung Kasing, now a global collectible favourite via POP MART.
  • KAWS x Sesame Street’s Elmo: with KAWS’ signature X-eyed twist.
  • McDonald’s Grimace: everyone’s favourite purple icon.
  • Snoopy and other surprise appearances (keep an eye out for the giant Yellow Rubber Duck).

Public Display: October 25 to November 1, 2025

Before the main parade, the sculptures will be anchored in the waters off Tamar Park in Admiralty, perfect for early viewing and photos.

The 8-Day Limited Water Parade Market

From October 25 – November 1, Tamar Park turns into Water Parade Market, a pop-up festival brimming with:

  • Exclusive themed photo zones: designed for your next viral Instagram post.
  • Pop-up shops: score limited-edition merchandise from your favourite IPs.
  • Skill games & activities: family-friendly fun that keeps kids entertained.
  • Food & drink stalls: local treats and global flavours.

Tickets: Early bird passes for the market open on Klook from 26th of September... so set that reminder.

Why This Is Huge for Hong Kong’s Cultural Scene

ARR founder Lam Shukam describes the Water Parade as an unprecedented collaboration of global artists and IPs, bridging geographic and branding barriers.

While Hong Kong’s IP market isn’t massive, Lam says locals form deep attachments to their favourite characters, making this event a perfect match for the city’s cultural tastes.

The timing? Spot-on. Not only will it attract locals, but it also promises to pull international visitors back to Hong Kong, boosting tourism, hospitality, and local businesses.

Beyond Balloons: This is Art on Water

Each floating figure is more than just a giant balloon...  they’re bespoke works of art:

  • KAWS’ Elmo transforms the childhood Sesame Street icon into contemporary art with X-eyes, echoing his Companion series.
  • Labubu blends Hong Kong artistry with international pop culture appeal, cementing its status as a collectable worldwide.

It’s part spectacle, part outdoor gallery, and all about joy.
