Micheal Jackson was a mortal and he has been dead for quite a long time now. But a recent decision by US National Film Registry has made Michael an immortal. He now lives forever! I'm sure a lot of you know about his song Thriller right? This 1983 short movie, Thriller, which is the song-and dance horror flick will on in the US National Film Registry. Why? Well, it is pretty simple. Thriller had helped popularize television music videos back in the 80s. So Lady Gaga who likes to clown around in her MTVs gotta thank Jacko for his immense contribution. :p
Now this is legend!
The 14-minute Thriller is among the 25 films the Library of Congress named to their National Film Registry. And do you know that Thriller is the FIRST music video to be included in the 2009 list of cultural treasures that will be preserved forever! Besides that Muppet Movie (1979), Dog Day Afternoon, The Incredible Shrinking Man (1975) and Once Upon A Time in the West (1968) also made it into the list to be immortalized! How come Brokeback Mountain couldn't make it into the list? Ha :D
MJ with his minions.
Ok, let's go back to Thriller. It has been described as a lavish production that "revolutionized the music industry." This video first played on tv and was released theatrically on 35mm film. Wow! We can see that Jacko is really serious about his music huh! Thriller was made popular again after the demise of Jackson last year.
Wooohoooo! Let's dance!
The MTV is about Michael going out with a girl when zombies start to crawl our of the graveyard. Then Jackson, himself, becomes zombie and joined his other "friends" in a dancing frenzy. It was kinda hilarious if you ask me. Because the undead who rise from their graves were walking aimlessly and suddenly they were strutting their fancy dance move. Haha :D
This is what he used to look like? :p
The addition of Michael Jackson's Thriller into the US Nation Film Registry is a testament that his work is an artistry. :) So whose video will be immortalized next? :p
