Lunch @ Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert In Midvalley

Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert In Midvalley

After enjoying the Christmas decorations, we started our food hunt on the ground (or was it underground) floor of Midvalley. Actually we did have some hard time trying to decide what to eat as we preferred not to indulge in any fast food for lunch. After wandering around while doing some sightseeing, we finally arrived at our destination to enjoy our lunch. So we opted to try Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert which looked quite oriental and family friendly.

Me and my beautiful wifey. :D

Not wanting to eat any overly-fried food, my wifey decided that we should try to dine in this Hong Kong-styled restaurant. I had never seen this eatery when I last visited Midvalley the year before, I guess it must have been a newly opened one. We were swiftly ushered to our table and were shown the menus to order our food. The decorations were simple but yet it sufficiently brought out that Hong Kong-ness to the ambiance. The wallpapers helped a lot as well. :)

We were quite hungry by then, the kids especially after walking for a few hours in the mall. Thankfully, food was prepared and served in no time. First to made it onto our table was the huge bowl of Hong Kong Char Siew Noodle (or we call it Wan Tan Mee), which is my son's favourite. The noodles were perfectly cooked (and cooled) and the texture was smooth and springy. The stewed meat was a joy to eat as well as it was nicely cooked without any hint of being "hard" of chewy. The dumplings were huge and the fillings were really, really generous; Not to mention delicious as well. Both Jordan boy and Jasmine girl really enjoyed this lunch of theirs.

Yours truly me ordered the Hong Kong Pork Chop Rice. I personally love how fragrant my rice was. The crispy and tender pork chop made the whole dish truly a joy to savour. Coupled with the gravy, everything became finger licking good for me. As for my missus, she placed on order for braised pork belly with mui choi rice. The braised meat was really tender and succulent, making every bite so scrumptious. Then again, if you ask me I felt that the mui choi was really the highlight. It made the whole dish more flavourful.

Besides our main dishes, we also ordered mini Char Siew Pau to fill up any remaining gaps in our stomachs. Gotta make sure we are really full before we embark on our next journey. The pau were delightful and the portion (being mini) was just nice for us. Last but not least, we also tried their in-house Osmanthus Jelly which was made from chrysanthemum and (Goji) wolfberry. It was really, really pleasant to the taste buds and throat. Highly recommended as a dessert as it is really nourishing and cooling at the same time.

If you happen to me in Midvalley, and are wondering what you should be eating for lunch or dinner. Do give Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert a try. I highly recommend their food especially if you love Chinese food. Ouh yeah~their special homemade chili (sambal) was really, really, really amazing *2 thumbs up*. So don't forget to enjoy your fragrant white rice or springy noodles with the sambal! :)
