Do you want to stand out in the world? Then be yourself. This is the very first step of becoming better than what you are right now. You are I are born equal but also different. Each of us have our very own purpose. Orison Marden mentioned, "No man could be ideally successful until he has found his place. Like a locomotive, he is strong on the track, but weak everywhere else." So choose to become yourself and avoid following the crowd. Be an engine, not the caboose.
Conformity is the enemy of growth and satisfaction. I have always believed that it is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation. Unfortunately the average people would rather be wrong than be different. Did you know that you are destined to be different? Have you ever asked yourself these questions: If I am not me, who will I be? The more you develop your potential, the less you will become like someone else.
You have to remember that trying to be like someone else is really self-defeating. As long as you are tying to be like someone else, the best you can ever be is number two. One of your main purposes in life is to be yourself. We can't reach our destiny taking another man's road. If you never walk except where you see another person's tracks, you will make no discoveries for yourself. Do not follow where the path may lead-go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
Almost every man wastes part of his life
in attempts to display qualities he does not possess.
Don't be common. The common go nowhere. Have you ever noticed that almost every very successful person is a little "different"? Your responsibility is not to remake yourself but to make the absolute best of what you are made of. Never ever compromise yourself. After all...you are all that you have got. Don't let your life be a continual struggle to be what you are not and to do what you should not. Walt Disney said it best, "The more you are like yourself, the less you are like anyone else." Step out of your comfort zone and start being different-be yourself.
